Welcome to City of Konawa's WebsiteKonawa is a great small city in Central Oklahoma. We are located SE of Shawnee and NW of Ada on State Highway 39 between State Highways 177 and 99. The Konawa Lake is a World Class Bass Fishing Lake and is open year round. The Konawa City Council and Konawa Employees strive to make Konawa the Best it Can Be. It is our goal to provide quality essential services to the Citizen's of Konawa. Konawa means "string of beads". The early settlers thought the morning dew and the sunlight shining across the railroad tracks in the early morning, at a glance, looked like a beautiful string of bead-hence the name. Water
Issue Update The City re-drilled two of the wells at the well
field. One of these wells has
already been placed in service and the other one should be in service in the
next couple of days. This
should increase the volume of water we are pumping to levels that will help to
restore pressure. The City is installing a new water line,
increasing water storage capacity (the new tanks should be here mid July) and
installing a new pump. These should
be completed by the end of July. The City is applying for a loan/grant from USDA
Rural Development to replace the existing lines, hydrants and meters.
In addition, new valves and pressure zones will be established to better
control the pressure throughout the city. These
items the city is hoping to complete within the next couple of years.
Thank
you for your patience during this time. If
you have ideas that might assist to accomplish any of these tasks quicker,
please call the City Manager.
